The Christian Public Servant – “God has your menu”

January 18, 2016 – Monday

Reading
2 Corinthians
12:9(a) (ESV) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

1 Corinthians 6:20(b) (ESV) So glorify God in your body.

Reflection
How you ever gone into the breakroom and taken more than you should chew? Oh, you had great intentions before you got there, but the selections in that machine made you succumb to temptation. Plus the stress of your job really didn’t help much, did it?

Satan tempts people all the time with little things – little desires. You look at the food machine, and you see only Honey Buns, Donut Sticks, and things made out of chocolate. Then, you look at the drink machine and see nothing diet. You may be diabetic, or you just know you’re overweight. But all that junk food looks so good, and there’s so much of it to choose from!

Now if you partake, nothing good is going to happen. You won’t be glorifying God, will you? Yes, it’s so easy to lose sight of what you’re doing to your body in the breakroom. I guess it’s the easiest room at work to lose sight of your own spiritual welfare.

But remember, God’s grace is sufficient when you feel weak and powerless – even in the breakroom. His grace is sufficient to move you away – especially when stress levels are so far off of the charts that the Honey Bun looks like your only best friend. All you need do is seek His grace. You can glorify Him in your body – even in that den of temptation.

God has your menu, not that machine. And His menu consists of His power. He will show you what buttons to push on that machine. He will tell you what to bring into the breakroom so you can ignore that machine. Glorify Him in your body, and you will never go hungry or thirsty!

So the next time you go into the breakroom, and you’re at your wit’s end, don’t partake in the delights of the machine. No, just remember His power is perfect in your weakness. All you need do is seek His grace and you will glorify Him in your body – especially in the breakroom!

Today at work, God has your menu. So get your plate and fork and truly feast!

Prayer
Father God, thank You for Your revelation today – that it is okay to seek You in everything I do. Keep my eyes on Your feast, and not on the junk in those machines. Prepare me when I feel weak. Your guiding light of strength in my weakness surpasses all understanding. When I am tempted, send me Your grace so I may eat at Your table – even in the breakroom. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
