The Christian Public Servant – “all kinds of nasty weather”

Reading
Galatians 6:9 [NIV] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Reflection
Wouldn’t it be great if every workday was that perfect “blue sky” spring morning! However, the real public sector workplace tests our minds, bodies and spirits with all kinds of nasty weather from irate citizens, irritating coworkers, and intimidating bosses. Whatever the workplace climate, Christian public servants have eternal assurance that if we resist the impulse to “fight or flight,” the Holy Spirit will guide, teach and comfort us as we endure the inclement weather.

During this workweek, count on dealing with all kinds of nasty weather from many situations. No matter what the storm, take time to pray and ask Jesus and the Holy Spirit to be the umbrella for your soul. Then count on the peace of God to return quickly.

So, don’t become weary in doing good in your workplace. Believe in the harvest that is surely coming! God’s umbrella will give protection from all kinds of nasty weather you face this week and all the weeks that follow.

Prayer
Dear Lord, help me keep my eye on You during the wind and waves of my stormy workday. I know Your peace will return because You will never leave or forsake me. In Your name, I pray. Amen.
